How to test your microphone

  1. Click Start microphone test and choose Allow.
  2. Speak normally — the level meter and waveform should move.
  3. Click Record, say a few words, click Stop, then play it back.
  4. If you have several mics, pick the right one from the dropdown.

The meter doesn't move

Your input volume may be at zero. On Windows: right-click the speaker icon → Sound settings → Input → raise the level. On Mac: System Settings → Sound → Input.

Wrong device selected

Use the dropdown above to switch microphones — laptops often default to a built-in mic instead of your headset.
